About TUNCO

The story of TUNCO brings us back to time on the road. Our backpacking years wasn't only about meeting cool people, surfing tropical waters and eat new and exotic food. Our travels showed us in real life an ecosystem on the brink of collapse, and communities where the majority of people go to bed hungry every night. These experiences lit a fire within us, and inspired us to start a business to try to do something about it. The result was TUNCO, named after our favorite point break mekka El Tunco - but also the hometown of a restaurant we totally fell in love with. TUNCO is a new type of restaurant - crafted by three friends with backgrounds in engineering and business - but none with any experience whatsoever from the food industry.

With our new company we wanted to bring care and good intention to an industry where there seemed to be more depletion than addition. We wanted to feed the world, but with a small footprint. In the summer of 2015, we quit our corporate jobs and put the backpacking on hold to pursue a company with a vision and a purpose.

We are in business to make healthy and sustainable food available to everyone. Our mission is to provide tasty and affordable meals, source healthy and sustainable ingredients, educate and inform, and help people in need.
